Mentro Lluest forges partnership with local hotel

Mentro Lluest has formed a mutually beneficial partnership with the Conrah Hotel in Chancery, near Aberystwyth.

The hotel, which is set in 20 acres of beautifully landscaped ground, has donated its vegetable garden to the charity, which helps people develop land-based skills like organic growing, horticulture and woodwork, in order to improve their chances of gaining employment.

Working alongside The Conrah’s groundsman for one day a week, Mentro Lluest students will grow fruit and vegetables that will eventually be used on the menu at The Conrah’s award winning Harry’s Restaurant.

Vegetables like runner beans, garlic, leeks, and lettuce and a variety of fruits such as strawberries and raspberries will be worked into the vegetarian menu. For everybody that orders the Mentro Lluest dish, the hotel will donate £1 to the charity.

Mentro Lluest's Development officer, Chris Glover said: “At a time when we have to work so hard to secure funds, it is very refreshing to have had this unexpected offer of support from the Conrah. We’re absolutely delighted, as it will be of great benefit to the charity in terms of raising funds and further developing the skills of our students.”

Sales and marketing co-ordinator at The Conrah Hotel, Tom Bates said: 'It is a privilege to partner this worthwhile local charity, with which we could see much synergy. We look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship, which will provide an excellent supply of home grown vegetables for Harry's Restaurant, as well as a magnificent experience for the students.”

The Conrah Hotel, only three miles from Aberystwyth, offers luxury accommodation and high quality meals, all of which are prepared to perfection with locally sourced produce in the award winning Harry’s Restaurant.
