Mentro Lluest is a centre of excellence for teaching of skills to people with special needs within the framework of organic growing, environmental sustainability and social cohesion.
Our Volunteers support the project in different ways; by contributing to the practical running of the site and by helping to create a positive working environment for our students and beneficiaries.
What can we offer to Volunteers?
By volunteering with Mentro Lluest you have an opportunity to develop your skills alongside professional Horticulturalists. You will be provided with a full induction and the chance to take part in our mentoring service. You can work and socialise in a supportive and friendly environment with like-minded people whilst contributing to your local community. Whilst gaining practical experience and enjoying the outdoors, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to make a real difference to the lives of the beneficiaries of the project.
What can you do?
Horticulture - Sowing, propagation and tending our range of perennials, bedding plants and hanging baskets.
Organic Gardening - Cultivation and harvesting of organic vegetables, salad crops, herbs and fruits.
Student Support - Assisting students with a wide variety of gardening tasks.
DIY - General site maintenance, including footpath repairs, decorating workspaces and tidying borders.
Research - University students are welcome to come and discuss the use of our site for research projects.
Conservation - Practical conservation work can be undertaken in our designated Conservation area, which is planted with species native to Wales. There is also a chance for volunteers to help redevelop and improve our ponds.
