Mentro Lluest – Helping you to grow

Our army of volunteers have worked tirelessly over the last six months, not only maintaining the site as it has previously been run, but also trying new ideas and expanding the range of plants and vegetables.

But we need more help. If you or anyone you know has an interest in gardening and could spare a few hours a few or a fortnight, Mentro Lluest would love to here from you.

May the 3rd saw Mentro Lluest's annual Open Day, a chance to showcase the hard work of our volunteers and beneficiaries over the last 7 months since European funding came to an end.

Everything for sale had been grown by volunteers and beneficiaries who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the day was a success.

The third Welsh Lady Run was held on Saturday 1 March 2008 on Aberystwyth Promenade. The annual event was launched by Menter Aberystwyth in March 2006 to celebrate St David's Day in style. Competitors are expected to dress as Welsh Ladies in order to take part.

This year Mentro Lluest was the nominated charity and thanks to the hardwork of Menter Aberystwyth and the generous sponsorship from the Jewelery House Aberystwyth, £350 was raised for the charity.

Mentro Lluest would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was involved with the event and we hope that we can work together again in the future.

Mentro Lluest held a Christmas Fair on Saturday December the 8th to raise funds and raise the charity's profile within the community.

Despite the forecast the rain held off for most of the day and more people visited than we had expected. There was plenty so see and do, from wreath-making and face-painting to a visit from Santa and numerous craft stalls from local craft-makers.

Mentro Lluest has formed a mutually beneficial partnership with the Conrah Hotel in Chancery, near Aberystwyth. The hotel, which is set in 20 acres of beautifully landscaped ground, has donated its vegetable garden to the charity.
